Scientists have uncovered an extensive fabric collection from the era of Kings David and Solomon in an ancient copper mine located deep in Israel’s Arava Valley.
This is the first discovery of textiles dating from the era of David and Solomon, and sheds fresh light on the historical fashions of the Holy Land. The textiles - tiny pieces of fabric that vary in color, weaving technique and ornamentation - also offer insight into the complex society of the early Edomites, the semi-nomadic people believed to have operated the copper mines at Timna.
“No textiles have ever been found at excavation sites like Jerusalem, Meggido and Hazor, so this provides a unique window into an entire aspect of life from which we’ve never had physical evidence before,” Tel Aviv University’s (TAU) Ben-Yosef, who led excavation team, said of the textiles that originated from bags, clothing, tents, ropes and cords.
“The wide variety of fabrics also provides new and important information about the Edomites, who, according to the Bible, warred with the Kingdom of Israel,” he said in a statement. “We found simply woven, elaborately decorated fabrics worn by the upper echelon of their stratified society. Luxury grade fabric adorned the highly skilled, highly respected craftsmen managing the copper furnaces. They were responsible for smelting the copper, which was a very complicated process.”
The mines were producing copper, a critical component in weapons and tools in ancient societies. To support huge mining communities in the middle of the desert, food, water and textiles had to be transported long distances. The textiles help unravel the trade practices and the regional economy back then, researchers said.
"We found linen, which was not produced locally. It was most likely from the Jordan Valley or Northern Israel. The majority of the fabrics were made of sheep's wool, a cloth that is seldom found in this ancient period," TAU masters student Vanessa Workman said. "This tells us how developed and sophisticated both their textile craft and trade networks must have been."
The arid conditions of the mines have led to a trove of important discoveries in the past, including the remarkable preservation of 3,000-year-old organic materials, including seeds, leather and fabric, and other extremely rare artifacts.
Along with the textiles, researchers also recently discovered thousands of seeds of the Biblical “Seven Species” at the site — the two grains and five fruits considered unique products of the Land of Israel. Some of the seeds were subjected to radiocarbon dating, providing robust confirmation for the age of the site.
“This is the first time seeds from this period have been found uncharred and in such large quantities,” Ben-Yosef said. “With the advancement of modern science, we now enjoy research options that were unthinkable a few decades ago. We can reconstruct wine typical of King David’s era, for example, and understand the cultivation and domestication processes that have been preserved in the DNA of the seed.”

Mysterious artifact discovered at Bethlehem's Church.
Hey guys, how are you today? Been a busy day for me. This got me thinking.

Mysterious artifact discovered at Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity

A mysterious religious artifact has surfaced during renovations at Bethlehem’s famous Church of the Nativity, officials say.
According to the Times of Israel, the artifact is made of brass, silver, shells and stones. It was covered in plaster and found near a window in the church that reportedly was built by Emperor Constantine and his mother Helena in the fourth century. Although officials confirmed that the artifact has been cleaned up, it is not on display, and there are no images of it as yet.
Ziad al-Bandak, a Palestinian presidential adviser for Christian Affairs, said the artifact is, “of great religious and historical value.”
The church itself is built over the cave where the birth of Jesus is said to have taken place. Considered to be one of Christianity’s holiest sites, the present day building is listed as endangered by UNESCO, the United Nations cultural agency. Over the centuries, the building fell into disrepair and is undergoing a vast and costly renovation in order to save it.
Until two years ago, water leaked in through a broken roof that has been replaced, according to the AP, which also noted that mosaic tiles within the building are being retouched for the first time in nearly a thousand years.
The AP also wrote that funding for the first phase drew interest from a variety of parties, including the Palestinian private sector, Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox and Armenian churches and donations from other countries.
Al-Bandak said $8 million has already been spent and an additional $11 million will be needed for further updates.
The AP added that the project is expected to take at least another three years, and will include “work on stone capitals and columns as well as on the ancient floor mosaics currently covered by stone flooring.”
Al-Bandak told the AP that the completed first phase is already a source of pride. "We are very proud of it because when we protect our national heritage, our history, we protect our future."

NCC Publishes Report Calling For Regulation Of Messaging Apps
Hello guys, how was your Vals Day?? Hope you smiled all day, just like most of us did. If yours wasnt so awesome, then just know on a bright side that the next would be brighters than awesome.
I was scooping through my onlinebuggle and saw this steering... Told my self I must share it with you. After all, love is sharing.!!!###$$$
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the nation’s communications regulatory body, is considering regulating the over the top services offered by several telecommunications companies in the country.
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the nation’s communications regulatory body, is considering regulating the over the top services offered by several telecommunications companies in the country.
Over the top services (OTT) refer to services provided to customers over a network but that are not sold, provided, or serviced by the carrier network. Amongst Nigerians, the most popular OTT services are WhatsApp, Facebook, and Skype.
According to the NCC, carrier services such as MTN, Etisalat, and Glo have no ability to regulate any of these messaging applications.
These issues are covered in a recent report published by the Policy, Competition & Economic Analysis Department of the NCC entitled An Overview of Provision of Over The Top [OTT] Services.
The report argues that OTT services are becoming a direct threat to traditional telephone networks operators as these services are cheap, and even free in some cases, and cannot be tolled by typical telephone networks.
It will be recalled that the Act to Prohibit Frivolous Petition and other Related Matters, popularly known as the Anti-Social Media bill, attempted to regulate precisely the same communications technologies.
While the report does not specifically call for the criminalization of behavior on applications such as WhatsApp, it does call for increased government scrutiny of these communication tools.
WhatsApp, Facebook, and other social media applications have been critical in the organization of many recent Nigerian protest movements including the #OccupyNigeria movement of 2012.
In response to the #OccupyNigeria movement, the Federal Government drafted the Lawful Interception of Communications Regulation bill. However, the bill came under heavy fire and was subsequently tabled.
In its call for regulation of these social media platforms the NCC’s report noted the “danger” of messages being “intercepted” by unknown persons.
“Attackers may be able to perform activities such as intercepting communications, eavesdropping, taking control of phones, making fraudulent calls from an account, conducting effective phishing attacks by manipulating one’s caller ID, and causing service to crash,” the report reads.
Due to this “threat”, the report argues, increased regulation is necessary in order to protect the country’s “security”.

Natural Cure for Menstrual Pain/ Dysmenorrhea
Dysmenorrhea is the medical term for the painful cramps that may occur immediately before or during the menstrual period. There are two types of dysmenorrhea: primary dysmenorrhea and secondary dysmenorrhea.
Primary dysmenorrhea is another name for common menstrual cramps. Cramps usually begin one to two years after a woman starts getting her period. Pain usually is felt in the lower abdomen or back. They can be mild to severe. Common menstrual cramps often start shortly before or at the onset of the period and continue one to three days. They usually become less painful as a woman ages and may stop entirely after the woman has her first baby.
Secondary dysmenorrhea is pain caused by a disorder in the woman's reproductive organs. These cramps usually begin earlier in the menstrual cycle and last longer than common menstrual cramps.
Most women experience some level of pain during their period. This is caused by the uterus contracting and relaxing, and the pain can last between a few hours to over a week. If you want to reduce your menstrual cramps, check out 10 proven methods to relieve the pain immediately.
1. Cinnamon
Cinnamon is a natural way to help relieve period pain. It is known to help reduce inflammation and soothe pain. Try a cinnamon hot chocolate to help relieve your menstrual cramps. Make hot chocolate using cocoa power or a pre-mixed brand. Stir half a teaspoon of cinnamon power and half a teaspoon of nutmeg into the freshly made hot chocolate, and add sugar to taste.
2. Coriander Seeds
Coriander has been proven to relieve pain and increase blood flow. Use coriander to relieve your period pain by trying a glass of coriander water. Add 15 coriander seeds to a boiling pan of water. Keep boiling the water until it has reduced by half. Allow the drink to cool slightly before drinking.
3. Salmon
Salmon is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids that help to provide menstrual relief. Try a lemon and salmon fillet as a tasty way to reduce period pain. Season the salmon fillet with lemon juice, black pepper, tarragon and olive oil in a baking tray. Cover the salmon with lemon slices and bake in the oven.
4. Dark chocolate
Dark chocolate (over 70% cocoa) is the perfect treat to help with menstrual cramps – it will help your muscles to relax, quickly helping to relieve pain. If you want to use dark chocolate to help with your symptoms, consider melting dark chocolate over fruit. This combines healthy eating with period pain relief!
5. Calcium
Foods that are high in calcium, such as milk, yogurt and broccoli, help to relieve muscle pain and cramps. Try relieving your period pain with a mix of yogurt and fruit, such as pineapple, strawberries and blueberries. This can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, or as a snack!
6. Chamomile tea
There are lots of health benefits to drinking chamomile tea, including relief from menstrual cramps. The tea contains anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties that help to ease pain and reduce the severity of the muscle spasms in the uterus. Have a cup of chamomile tea each morning and evening to help fight period pain.
7. Spinach
Leafy greens like spinach contain lots of magnesium which helps to relax the muscles. If you want to use spinach to combat your menstrual cramps, try a delicious spinach salad.
Chop up a whole red onion, followed by some salad tomatoes. Add the onions and tomatoes to a bowl with 8 ounces of baby spinach. Crumble feta cheese over the top, then garnish with your favorite salad dressing.
8. Ginger
Ginger combats menstrual pain in lots of different ways. It helps to reduce the pain hormones in your body, and it also gives you an added boost of energy so you won’t feel as tired during the day. Try adding ginger, honey and a slice of lemon to boiling water to help with your menstrual cramps.
9. Fiber
Excess hormones are expelled through our bowls, and without enough fiber they are reabsorbed into your body. Stay in control of your hormones by eating a fiber-packed meal. Fiber is in lots of things; fruit, vegetables, grains and beans.
Try a healthy fruit salad, filled with apples, to relieve period pain.
10. Garlic
Garlic helps to kill bacteria while reducing inflammation. If you want to use garlic to help with menstrual cramps, try a garlic tea or start to cook with garlic oil.

Zika Virus in Nigeria
By Victoria Ojeme
ABUJA —THE Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, has said that the mosquitoes carrying Zika virus are in Nigeria and urged Nigerians to protect themselves by using mosquito nets.
He also called on Nigerians to remain calm, be vigilant and report any suspected case of an acute febrile illness in pregnant women, in particular, to any nearest health facility.
Adewole made this disclosure at a press briefing, yesterday, in Abuja, where he explained that the mosquitoes were active and flying, adding that they bite during the day and early morning.
He said: “Nigerian scientists working in Western Nigeria in 1954 discovered Zika virus in Nigeria. Further studies in the years 1975 to 1979 showed that 40 per cent of Nigeria adults and 25 per cent of Nigerian children have antibodies to Zika virus, meaning they are protected against this virus.
“Despite the fact that some Nigerians are immune to the Zika virus infection as demonstrated by previous studies, it is important and advisable that Nigerians should be careful and protect themselves from mosquito bites.
“There is no vaccine for Zika virus, and no cure other than rest, plenty of fluids and perhaps over-the-counter medication to reduce fevers, aches and pains as previously mentioned. This, therefore, means that prevention is most effective means of preventing transmission.
“I advise all Nigerians, particularly pregnant women, to avoid travelling to countries infected by this virus in these periods. If however, you are to visit any country where Zika virus is now being actively transmitted, you are advised to protect yourselves from mosquito bites.
“Pregnant women considering travel to affected areas may wish to consult their health-care provider prior to travel and after return. They should also practice personal and household steps to prevent mosquito, including putting mosquito repellant on their clothes and skin, wear long sleeves and pants, and sleep underneath mosquito nets at night, where possible.”

APPLY FOR CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA "CBN" AGRICULTURE LOAN 2016.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has approved the disbursement of about N75billion as loan to farmers in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the Nigerian Incentive-Based Risk Sharing in Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL).
The loan guarantee scheme is a public-private sector initiative set up to transform the country’s agricultural sector. It was initiated by the apex bank, the Bankers’ Committee and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, to guarantee 75 per cent loans provided by Deposit Money Banks (DPB) to farmers as part of efforts to transform the country’s agricultural sector.
The Head of NIRSAL Project Implementation Office under the Development Finance Department of the CBN, Jude Uzonwanne, who spoke on the role of NIRSAL in Abuja, told the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Oloye Akinjide, that the guarantee would be issued to farmers through commercial banks and other financial institutions.
“NIRSAL would mobilize financing for Nigerian agribusiness by using credit guarantees to address the risk of default,” Mr. Uzonwanne said.
“NIRSAL is a flexible financing tool designed to change the behaviour of financial institutions.
“It covers all crops and livestock activities in Nigeria, while driving improved investment outcomes and job creation. It is also building on a legacy of previous CBN interventions in agriculture that has helped create thousands of jobs.”
Mr. Uzonwanne said the programme was designed to create access to finance to farmers by integrating end-to-end agriculture value chains, such as input producers, farmers, agro dealers, agro processors and industrial manufacturers with agricultural financing value chains – loan product development, credit distribution, loan origination, managing and pricing for risk, and loan disbursement.
“The integration is driven by NIRSAL’s 5 pillars, particularly the Risk Sharing Pillar and the Technical Assistance pillars, such as Risk sharing Facility, allocated ?45 billion, Insurance Facility (?4.5 billion), Technical assistance facility (?9 billion), Agricultural bank rating scheme (?1.5 billion), and Bank incentive me.
“NIRSAL will share risks with banks ranging from 30% to 75% of loss depending on the segment. We are prepared to offer following terms to farmers in the States and FCT Abuja: 75% guarantees on all input, working capital and limited living cost loans to plant the crop, and loan duration should be about 24 – 28 months,” he said.
The Minister of State for FCT, who was represented by the Director of Treasury in the FCT Administration, Ibrahim Bomai, said that NIRSAL is cardinal to the success of the Federal Government’s Agricultural Transformational Agenda (ATA) as it was established to address the grey areas inhibiting agricultural growth in the country.
“NIRSAL seeks to address all the technical, administrative and financial needs of the farmers along the selected agricultural value chain commodities in which the country has comparative advantage,” said the minister said Akinjide.
He said the six Area Councils of the FCT have already been directed to identify and key into the value chain commodities to be promoted in their respective area of jurisdiction, adding that the Authority has commenced the implementation of the Growth Enhancement Scheme of Federal Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development in order to empower the farmers in the territory.
The United Bank of Africa (UBA) has been saddled with the responsibility of registering interested applicants for the loan.

Onions do more than just add a little zing to soups, casseroles, and omelets! Read on to find out about the amazing health benefits of onions that you might not even be aware of.
Onions Are Good for Heart Health
If you want to keep your heart healthy, keep eating those onions! Onions are able to thin the blood, which reduces your chances of forming a blood clot and at the same time are able to help lower levels of unhealthy LDL cholesterol. Both of these factors can reduce your risk of developing heart disease, making onions an important part of a heart-healthy diet.
Onions Can Slow Down The Ageing Process And Strengthen Your Immune System
Onions are a great source of antioxidants such as quercetin, sulfur and vitamin C. These antioxidants have been shown to reduce stress on your cells and slow down the aging process. They are also good for strengthening your immune system, making it less likely that you will come down with the flue or other infections.
Onions Are Diet-Friendly
Trying to shed those extra pounds? Try adding onions to your diet. They have no fat or cholesterol and an entire cup of onions is only 64 calories! These can be tossed to healthy dishes like salads or vegetable stir-fries to help add zest to your food and help you achieve your weight loss goals.
Onions Detoxify Naturally
Looking for a gentle way to detox? Then consider adding extra onions to the diet. Onions are rich in sulfur-containing compounds and amino acids that help the body to get rid of toxins such as heavy metals, which can build up in your system and leave you feeling tired and sluggish.
Onions Can Even Improve Your Mood
Believe it or not, onions are not just good for physical health but emotional health as well. This is because they can help block compounds in the body which can interfere with serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” hormone which can help fight off feelings of stress, anxiety or depression.
Onions Are Rich in Healthy Minerals
Apart from iron, onion is rich in other minerals, too. The two most important are calcium — which your body needs for strong bones and teeth — and magnesium, which can help you deal with stress and give you a good night’s sleep.
Onions Are Effective Against Some Cancers
Onions are a rich source of a compound called allicin. In several studies, allicin has been shown to have anti-cancer properties, especially against cancers of the stomach and colon and helps by slowing the growth of tumors.
Onions Have Strong Antiseptic Properties
Compounds in onions have been shown to have strong anti-viral and antibiotic properties and can help you fight infections. They are particularly good against e.coli and can help the body to fight off urinary infections like cystitis, a common and painful infection of the bladder.
Onions Can Help Treat Anemia
Anemia is caused by low iron levels and can leave you feeling tired and worn out even after a good night’s sleep. An iron-rich diet can help improve this condition and build up red blood cells. Onions are very high in iron, making them a good choice if you suffer from this condition.
Onions Can Help with Hair Loss
Onions aren’t just useful when you eat them! One study showed that when people applied juice from an onion to their scalp for several weeks, this application could help with hair loss naturally. This could prove to be a great at-home remedy if your hair is thinning!
The takeaway here is that onions are quick to prepare and add to a variety of dishes, even if you have a busy schedule. And the health benefits for doing so are numerous, making it a small but easy way to help improve your health even on those really hectic days!

SCAM ALERT: New Banking Scam.. beware.
Yesterday morning, a Boss sent his receptionist to one of the banks (UBA) at Allen Avenue, Ikeja Lagos, to make a deposit of N50,000.
The receptionist headed straight to the bank, and while inside the bank a well dressed man who acted as one of the bank officials walked up to Him and asked if he wants to make any deposit. The receptionist replied Yes, and the man asked Him to bring his deposit slip and money so he could make the deposit for him.
And that was the end of it as the receptionist couldn’t realise when this heartless Man left the banking hall… It was recorded that the Man (dupe) spent less than 10minutes in the bank.
Below is the screen shot of the man as captured on the CCTV camera.

Words!!!
Being in one of those moods, Sammy Young was pretty much under pressure, Real time was the only time he had for some fresh air and exercise. At about 12:15, they were busy over lunch with diverse lone thoughts...
Obinna cleared his throat and started talking without really bothering if anyone was listeningš¾
I have a question, he said. Help clarify this.
GENIUS or MENTALLY ILL?
A story is told about a young Thomas Edison who came home one day with a paper for his mother. He told her, “My teacher told me to give this paper only to my mother.” Thomas’ mother read the note and her eyes filled with tears. Thomas asked his mother what the note said, and she read aloud, “Your son is a genius. This school is too small for him and doesn’t have enough good teachers for training him. Please teach him yourself.”
And that’s exactly what Thomas’ mother did; she home-schooled her child with devotion and dedication.
As the story goes, many years later after Thomas Edison’s mother passed on, and he was now one of the world’s greatest inventors, he found a folded paper among other family items. He opened the very same paper that had been handed to him to give to his mother and read the following message: “Your son is mentally ill. We won’t let him come to school anymore.”
At that moment, Edison realised what his mother had done for him so many years ago. He wrote in his diary: “Thomas Alva Edison was an addled child that, by a hero mother, became the genius of the century.”
In the book of Proverbs we learn: “The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” Can you imagine what might have happened to Thomas Edison if his mother had read to him the reckless and hurtful words written by his foolish teacher? He might never have invented the light bulb or made his many other contributions to society.
Thank God for the wise words of his mother! She created the context in which her son could grow to his full potential.
Let’s take this message to heart and resolve to use our words for healing today. Just as hurtful words can cause uncontrolled damage for life, so can wise words positively affect a person for life. May the words we use today change a life for the better.

We cannot however confirm if he is still cooling off in London or whether he has sneaked into his town of Oghara in Delta state.
Fifty-seven year old Ibori was jailed for using UK financial institutions to launder hundreds of millions of pound sterling he stole from public funds in Delta State.
His journey to jail began with his arrest On 13 May 2010 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates under Interpol arrest warrants, issued from United Kingdom courts and enacted by the Metropolitan Police.
He had earlier made a mockery of Nigeria’s legal system, walking away free from the multi-billion fraud charge levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, including the $15 million bribe he offered the then EFCC chairman, Nuhu Ribadu.
Ibori’s case and extradition became one of the longest, most complex and expensive operations mounted by Scotland Yard in recent years.......
